How to Treat Hyperhidrosis
At The Hamble Clinic in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, we offer personalised assessment and treatment for excessive sweating, also known as Hyperhidrosis treatment. The aim is to reduce troublesome sweating and help you feel more comfortable in your daily life.
Excessive sweating can affect what you wear, how comfortable you feel and how you approach everyday situations. You may find yourself changing clothes frequently or worrying about visible sweat marks, even when you are not hot or exercising.
Known as hyperhidrosis, excessive sweating can affect the underarms and other areas of the body. If antiperspirants and changes to your routine have not helped, a consultation can help you understand your options.
Your consultation at The Hamble Clinic will be with Stuart Yeates, Founder & Clinical Director. He is an independent nurse prescriber with over 20 years of clinical experience. When you book for excessive sweating treatment with Stuart he will be on-hand to make sure you get the appropriate care. He will review your symptoms and medical history before recommending an approach.
Excessive sweating can be treated with botulinum toxin injections, sometimes known as Botox. These injections help by temporarily blocking the nerve signals that stimulate sweat production in the treated area.
Your first step is a free consultation. You can discuss your concerns privately, ask questions and consider the options without pressure to proceed.

Your hyperhidrosis consultation in Aylesbury
Your appointment starts with a conversation about where you sweat, when it happens and how it affects you. Stuart will ask about any treatments you have tried, medicines you take and other symptoms you have noticed.
Underarm sweating is a key treatment area. You can also discuss excessive sweating affecting the palms, soles of the feet, forehead or scalp. Each area needs an individual assessment, as comfort, risks and expected results differ.
If Botox injections for excessive sweating are appropriate, Stuart will explain the procedure and agree a treatment plan with you. Treatment involves a series of small injections into the skin across the affected area.
You will also receive an explanation of the cost, likely duration of benefit and aftercare. The aim is to make sweating more manageable for you in your everyday life.
Stuart carries out your consultation and treatment personally, so you can discuss any concerns directly with him. The Hamble Clinic is Save Face registered which means patient care and safety takes precedent in everything we do.
Based in Aylesbury, we welcome enquiries from across Buckinghamshire, including Stoke Mandeville, Weston Turville, Aston Clinton and Wendover. Patients from nearby Berkhamsted are also welcome to arrange a consultation.
Usually one treatment appointment is needed initially. Stuart will explain when to assess your response and whether a review is appropriate. Further appointments may be considered when the effects wear off.
Appointment length depends on the treatment area. Stuart will confirm how long to allow, including preparation, any measures to reduce discomfort and aftercare advice.
Small bumps, redness, tenderness or bruising can occur around the injection sites. Stuart will explain all the pros and cons before you have treatment and there is never any pressure for you to proceed if you decide it’s not for you.
The effects last for several months, but duration varies by treatment area and individual response. Stuart will explain what to expect based on your individual treatment plan. Further treatment is considered when symptoms return and if it is appropriate to repeat the procedure.
Possible side effects include injection-site pain, bruising, and swelling. Stuart will discuss the risks specific to your treatment area before you give consent.
Follow Stuart’s instructions for your treatment area. Avoid rubbing or massaging the injection sites immediately afterwards. He will explain when to resume exercise and when to use products such as antiperspirant.
Frequently asked questions
What is hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis means sweating more than your body needs to regulate its temperature. It may affect particular areas, such as the underarms, hands or feet, or occur more widely. It can happen without an obvious cause, but medicines and medical conditions can also contribute.
How do Botox injections for excessive sweating work?
Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks the nerve signals that tell sweat glands to produce sweat in the treated area. This can reduce local sweating. It does not remove the glands or permanently cure hyperhidrosis.
How soon will I notice a reduction in sweating?
The effects develop gradually rather than immediately. You may notice changes during the first week, with further improvement over the following weeks. Stuart will explain when to assess your response and when to contact him if you have not noticed an improvement.
Can you treat sweaty hands and feet?
Yes we can. These areas can be assessed during your consultation. Injections into the palms and soles can be more uncomfortable than underarm treatment.
Can I have treatment if my underarm skin is sensitive?
Sensitive skin does not automatically rule out treatment, but it needs to be assessed. Tell Stuart about irritation, eczema or reactions to antiperspirants. Active infection or inflammation may mean treatment needs to be postponed. He will advise on the most appropriate next step.
Will treatment stop me sweating elsewhere?
Treatment targets sweating in the injected area. It is not intended to stop sweating throughout your body. If you experience widespread sweating, Stuart may recommend a GP assessment to help identify the cause.
Should I see my GP before booking?
Speak to your GP if sweating is new or unexplained, occurs at night, or comes with other symptoms such as unexplained weight loss. You should also mention any medicines you take. Identifying an underlying cause may change which treatment is appropriate.
How much does excessive sweating treatment cost?
Treatment costs £300 for one of the following paired areas: both underarms, both palms or both feet. Stuart will confirm the full cost before treatment. Please ask about pricing for the forehead or scalp during your consultation.
Is excessive sweating treatment permanent?
No. The effects gradually wear off, and sweating can return. Some people choose repeat treatment to manage their symptoms. Stuart will assess your response and discuss suitable timing rather than recommend a fixed schedule for everyone.
