Planning Your Treatments Before a Big Event

There is a moment most people recognise. A date lands in the diary — a wedding, a milestone birthday, a work event, a holiday you have been saving for — and you find yourself thinking about how you want to look and feel when it arrives.

The question that follows is almost always the same: when should I start?

It matters more than most people expect. Aesthetic treatments are not instant. Some settle within days, others build gradually over weeks, and a few need a course spread across several months to do their best work. Book too late and you spend your event waiting for results to arrive. Book at the right time and everything has settled, softened and simply looks like you on a very good day.

This page sets out a realistic timeline, so you know what to plan and when to plan it.

Start Here — Book a Consultation First

Before any timeline means anything, we need to know what you actually need. A consultation at our Aylesbury clinic is free, takes around thirty minutes, and involves no pressure to book anything.

We will talk through what is prompting the appointment, look at your skin properly using digital skin analysis, and be honest about what is realistic in the time you have. If your date is close and a treatment would not settle in time, we will say so and suggest something that will.

Ideally, book this consultation as early as you can. Even if you decide to do nothing for months, knowing the plan removes the guesswork.

Your Timeline

Six months before — the foundation work

This is where the treatments that genuinely change skin quality belong, because they need time and usually a course rather than a single session.

Six months also gives you room to try something, see how your skin responds, and adjust before it matters.

Three months before — structure and volume

If you are considering treatments that add volume or definition, this is the window.

Six weeks before — refinement

Now we are fine-tuning rather than changing.

Two weeks before — the last sensible window

Light, low-downtime treatments only.

We would not usually recommend injectable treatments this close unless you have had them with us before and we know exactly how you respond.

The final week — leave your face alone

No new treatments, no experiments, no trying a product a friend recommended. Keep to the routine that has been working, drink water, sleep, and let the work you did months ago do its job.

The Most Common Mistake

Leaving it until three weeks before and asking for everything at once. It rarely goes well. Treatments layered on top of each other with no time to settle look like treatments — and the one thing almost everyone actually wants is to look like themselves, rested.

If your event is close and you are reading this with a slight sense of panic, book a consultation anyway. There is nearly always something sensible we can do. It just might not be what you first had in mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book my first appointment?

As early as you can. Six months gives you every option; three months covers most treatments comfortably; six weeks still allows meaningful refinement. Even at two weeks there is usually something worthwhile.

Can I have more than one treatment on the same day?

Sometimes, and we will advise during your consultation. Some combinations work well together; others are better spaced out so we can see clearly how each one has settled.

Will people be able to tell I have had something done?

That is exactly what the timeline is designed to avoid. Treatments planned with enough time settle naturally. Rushed treatments are the ones that get noticed.

What if I have never had aesthetic treatment before?

A large number of our patients start with us. The consultation is a conversation, not a sales appointment, and starting conservatively is almost always the right call.
